  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Former Wrexham boss Dean Saunders has revealed his thoughts behind the ambitions of the club's owners to build a brand new stadium that could end up having a capacity of 55,000 people.

  Saunders, who managed the club between 2008 and 2011 believes Wrexham could far exceed his initial goals of having 25,000 fans in the Championship due to the influx of 'fans from everywhere'.

  Wrexham have enjoyed enormous growth since their 'Hollywood' takeover in 2021, which has seen the club rise from the Conference National to League One, achieving sell-out crowds along the way.

  McElhenney and Reynolds have continued to invest in the infrastructure of the club in order to build on the new-found interest in the Welsh side.

  WHAT SAUNDERS SAID

  Speaking on talkSPORT, Saunders said: “I mean, they are gaining fans from everywhere. The series they put on, obviously what they are doing for the town, and I wouldn’t put it past them. 55,000 is a lot to ask. And, I thought, at the time, looking back, I remember thinking, we will get 25,000 for getting in the Championship. We might get 25,000. But to make the stadium a 55,000 capacity, it’s just incredible.”
